Happy New Year Money Guy Show Family! There has never been a better time to buy into the market and start investing than right now! Between investment options and low-cost investments, you have an opportunity to supercharge your finances by investing.

Unlike earlier years, today you have access to different financial products that simply weren't available before. And If you have less than $250,000 in investable assets, you probably don't need a financial advisor just yet. Meaning, you can jumpstart and build wealth on your own for now.  If you have more than $250,000, then it's probably time to consider hiring a co-pilot to avoid making financial mistakes and maximize your investment returns.

Either way, no matter where you are in your financial journey, today's episode shares the 9 steps you can take to invest $1,000 right now! Imagine the impact properly investing $1,000 can have on your growth potential. We talk about that and so much more in today's show.

Are generous people more successful? Cultural idioms like it’s a “dog-eat-dog-world” and “nice guys finish last” may have you thinking that while generosity is the “right” way to be, it doesn’t always pay-off in the end. And that somehow the “ends justifying the means” is the way to get to the top of the success scale.

Well, we have a contrary belief to the worldview of generosity and, as it turns out, there are studies that reveal that generosity does, in fact, lead to success!

Be sure to tune-in to this week’s short episode of The Money Guy Show to find out just how successful some generous people are and how they get there while others do not.

So much is made about this tool of asset management, but how much does the average investor actually know?

As a brief overview, rebalancing is getting your investment allocation to the appropriate target.  For example, if your portfolio is comprised of 60% in risk assets (i.e. stocks) and 40% in conservative assets (i.e. bonds) and one piece of that moves differently and throws the balance off, rebalancing helps to get you back to your original allocation.

In the simplest form, rebalancing buys the assets that have gone below the allocation threshold you would like to be at and sells the assets that have gone over. And you rebalance so that you can maintain the appropriate level of risk in your portfolio and to help stay on track to reach long-term financial goals.

But what does the research say about rebalancing? And what is the common sense approach when it comes to this tool? Tune in to this week’s episode to hear us dive into the nuts and bolts of rebalancing and how you can use it in your financial life.

Hey Money Guy Show Family! Cash is making money again. That’s right. Times are changing and you can generate income from cash again. (Seriously)

The Great Recession (2008-2009) slashed interest rates and they were in a free fall sitting on the bottom at 0.5% for the better part of a decade. Now, cash is making a comeback and it can yield over 2% today in high-yield savings accounts and over 2.5% in a 1-year CD and 3% for longer term CDs.

We’re at the point now where we all should start paying attention to cash as an asset class that can yield a return and what you can do about it.

One of our biggest issues with the financial industry is when products are sold to consumers and investors through fear tactics. And while there are instances where fear is a natural motivator behind certain financial products, such as having a will if you have dependent children, not every financial decision should be based on fear.

There are many financial products out there designed to help you achieve financial goals. Understanding your needs and the purpose financial tools can serve is paramount to you making wise decisions about your finances.

Tune in to this week’s short episode of The Money Guy Show to find out which financial products are generally sold with fear-based tactics and how you can safeguard yourself against them.

If you were just going off what you hear from friends and family members at social gatherings, you might think everyone hits it big when they trade stocks. People are eager to tell you when their risky investments make money, but they are less forthcoming about all the busts.

Trying to time the market to get that “big win” is a risky endeavor. Ben Carlson from A Wealth of Common Sense wrote an awesome post back in 2014 that introduced us to Bob, "The World's Worst Market Timer." Join us for this week’s episode of The Money Guy Show, as we unpack the cautionary tale represented by Bob, “The World’s Worst Market Timer” and highlight where Bob goes wrong and what his potential outcomes could have been if he did things differently.

When it comes to investing, do you ever find yourself reacting to the media headlines? If you spend even one day listening to financial news updates, you could be convinced that you need to do something drastic to combat the doom and gloom that's perpetuated by industry 'gurus.' Fear is often the driving emotion behind bad financial decisions, and we don't want you to total your financial life because of such peer pressure.

You (and any other investor) are told on a daily basis by the financial media to follow the herd and invest your money in this or that, or worse... sell when things seem scary. In this week's episode, we talk about how even when there's good news the media somehow wraps it up in negativity. Don't be misled in your financial life.
